The Water Museum captures, through its exhibits, the history of water in Cyprus and outlines a comprehensive picture of the evolving journey Cypriots have taken to access and secure water throughout time.

The museum is divided into three sections:

(a) The Outdoor Water Museum, surrounded by native Cypriot vegetation, features a windmill, water wheel (alakati), cistern, wells, stone fountains, hand pump, carts, and more.

(b) The “Old Workshop” recreates the mechanical methods of water distribution. It displays tools, instruments, devices, and components used in water supply networks from ancient times to the present, including old water disinfection systems (chlorinators), water level gauges, and pumping machines.

(c) The “Old Warehouse” has been converted into a venue for lectures, screenings, and other events. It also serves as a permanent exhibition space for photographs depicting moments from Cyprus’s water-related past.

The museum hosts lectures and workshops related to water. Educational programs are offered to school groups through the Ministry of Education and Culture. Free guided tours are available for both individual visitors and groups, upon prior telephone arrangement.
