Ο Ιταλός περιηγητής Μαρίτι (1760) αναφέρεται στα βόδια τα οποία είναι μικρά και ισχνά, τα πρόβατα τα οποία παρέχουν το καλύτερο κρέας και τα αρνιά τα οποία κυρίως τρώνε το καλοκαίρι.

An Italian named Giovanni Mariti, writing in the 1760s, described the domestic animals of the island and those used for meat:
The oxen are small and lean… The sheep supply the best meat… The lambs are chiefly eaten in the summer. The flocks of goats are beautiful…”. Cobham (1971) 15.
