Greek name - description

A species of small native potatoes, found in cultivated fields during October and New Year. The flesh was white and the taste was astringent. They were surrounded by fuzz, much like kolokasi. The name of this wild native potato is used mainly in the plural form: "Shall we go and collect karydaes?" (Pharmakidou XP, 2003, p. 307)

Language remarks

pl, kary(d)aes. In Phiní village and the surrounding area, they were called mirmillína.
