pl: pomelithkiés. The fruit is a pomelida, pl: pomelides (Pharmakidou XP, 2003 p. 204).

Scientific name: Mespilus germanica.

It is mentioned in ancient Greek literature as mespilon (μέσπιλον) from which it was adopted in Latin as mespilium. In Cypriot, in more recent times, the tree is called polemidià and the fruit are called polemídia (wikipedia, Mespilus germanica).
