It is a marine fish of the coarse fish species (Great Encyclopedia of Cyprus, vol. 1, entry αετόψαρο, 209).

Language remarks

Scientific name: There are two species, belonging to the family Myliobatidae:
(a) Myliobatis aquila (Linnaeus), Eagle ray) 
(b) Pteromylaeus bovinus, Bull ray) and a third species belonging to the family Mobulidae: 
(c) Mobula mobular

Processing method

It is caught using coarse longlines, trawls and nets. It is consumed when boiled or fried (Great Encyclopedia of Cyprus, vol. 1, entry αετόψαρο, 210).
