It is a freshwater fish (Great Encyclopedia of Cyprus, vol. 1, entry αβραμίδα μικρή,η, 28). It is 25-30 cm long. It has a small head, an oval body, a forked tail and a silvery colour. It moves in shoals and feeds on organic material (Vida 2007, entry λευκή βλίκα).
