'Itrion' is recorded in the work 'Περί Γρίφων' by Klearchos Soleas (4th-3rd c. BC) among other desserts. The passage is recorded by Athenaeus (2nd-3rd c. AD) in his work 'Dipnosophistae' (14.649a).

'Itron' is described by Athenaeus (14.646d) as a thin biscuit made with sesame and honey.
