Functional and symbolic role
Ppalázia (young pigeons) were and still are a parents' favourite choice of food for their children and were often cooked just for them. In many villages this name refers to young pigeons, which are considered a fine delicacy. They are boiled and in their broth either spaghetti or other types of pasta are cooked (Lazarou, Politiko).
