A grape variety.
Name - Origin
Ροζακί.
Rozaki or razaki is a grape variety (Babiniotis 2005, entry ροζακί κ. ραζακί,το, 1551). It is large conical, moderately dense; the grape is large, cylindrical or ellipsoidal with a golden-yellow or white-yellow colour. The skin is moderately thin, often transparent, the flesh is crisp, firm, with a pleasant sweet taste. Rozaki grapes ripen from the beginning of September to the end of October, depending on the area and the cultivation practices. The grapes of this variety have a high preservation and transportation capacity, making it the best commercial variety (Green-organic.gr)
ETYM. Rozaki < plural Rozakia < Latin rosacea (Babiniotis 2005, entry ροζακί κ. ραζακί,το, 1551; Petrou-Poeitou 2013, entry Ροζακί, 127), of the adjective rosaceus 'rosy' (< rosa 'rose'). Razaki < turk. razaki (Babiniotis 2005, entry ροζακί κ. ραζακί,το, 1551; Petrou-Poeitou 2013, entry Ροζακί, 127), it is possible that the Turkish word razaki is also of Latin origin (Babiniotis 2005, entry ροζακί κ. ραζακί,το, 1551).
