White wine, tasty and light. It was and still is considered to be the best quality wine, after Commandaria. It was produced mainly in the villages in the north-west of the Limassol district, especially in the village of Omodos (Pharmakidou XP, 2003, p. 85).

In 1490, King João II of Portugal got vines from Cyprus and planted them in Madeira, where famous wines were also produced (and still are until today).
