Name - Origin
It is a bread crumb that has been toasted (Petrou-Poeitou 2013, entry Γαλέτα, 34). George Babiniotis notes that it is grated breadcrumbs used in cooking. Also, galeta is a piece or sliced bread that has been rebaked and given as dry food to soldiers and sailors (a rusk) (Babiniotis 2005, entry γαλέτα,η, 398).
