Name - Origin
It is a completely unripe fig or other fruit (Yangoullis 2009, entry κλόκκος,ο, 208).
ETYM. < a word that sound like (Yangoullis 2009, entry κλόκκος,ο, 208), from the "klok" sound heard when it is cut (Petrou-Poeitou 2013, entry Κλόκκος, 61) < kolokos, i.e. something without taste (Petrou-Poeitou 2013, entry Κλόκκος, 61)

Xenophon P. Pharmakidis mentions that klokkos is the name of the unripe fig in Karpasia, while in the rest of Cyprus it is called koutsakos (Kypri 1983 [2003²], entry κλόκκος,ο, 311).
Georgios Loukas in his Glossary notes that the unripe fig is also called koutsakas or sytžavlin (Kypri 1979 [2002²], entry κλόκκος,ο, 221).
