Name - Origin
A species of migratory bird whose meat was edible. It has the size of a pigeon, but its tail is somewhat long (Kypri 1983 [2003²], entry βανέλλιν,το, 135).
George Loukas notes that it is a long-necked vulture [Kypri 1979 [2002²], entry βανέλλιν,το, 83].
