A variation of the traditional recipe for afelia, in which wine and coriander are replaced by lemon juice and oregano, respectively. The recipe comes from occupied Morphou.

Small pieces of pork cooked lemon juice and oregano.

Ingredients

1 kg boneless pork meat, cut into cubes
½ tsp salt
1 pinch of cinnamon
1 tsp oregano
1 tbsp oil for frying
lemon juice to finish the dish

Method

Place the meat in a pot with the oil, oregano, cinnamon and salt. Cover the pot with a lid and let the meat cook until it is golden brown. Open the pot and check it periodically. Remove from the heat and remove excess oil. Place the food back on the heat and add the lemon juice, stirring for 1 to 2 minutes. (Vassilis Ioannou, Cooking Cypriot food 2014).
