A soup made of mung beans and mavrolado (type of olive oil). It had heating properties and was consumed mainly in winter.

Name - Origin
Cypriot name of food
Μαχόσουπα. Mahósoupa
Greek name - description

Mung beans were very similar to the seeds of the Cyprus vetch, but they were much smaller in size and their colour was darker. On very cold winter days and nights, they used to prepare mahosouppa, which was so warming and delicious adding plenty of mavrolado to it. (Stavrinou A.D., 1993, 95).
