They used to cook potatoes at the festive table following a christening of a baby (Protopapa K, 2009 pp. 332, 493).

People believed that in general they could not pay off their obligation to the midwife and so, whenever she would visit the new mother's house, they used to offer her whatever they had and potatoes were a common gift (Protopapa K 2009, pp. 332, 493).
